Most men are still bigger and stronger than most women, and the size gap and the strength gap haven't closed that much. We just see the rule's exceptions in these scenes. There is some proof that younger men now are weaker than younger men in the '80s while younger women now are stronger than younger women in the '80s (performances on hand grip strength tests). The gap narrowed between the sexes, but it was more like an inch than a mile.
