Quote:
Fetish in origin has religious connotation: object believed to possess supernatural powers. Generalised however (not only in religious or sexual context), it STILL means : an intermediary object (including objectified part of a body, or mental concept..) to facilitate something different. Fetish serves to facilitate some goal, different from, = NOT cofined in the object itself. Therefore, lots of situations called "fetish" in sexual commercialism (sales-man linguistic abuse of the word, as was started primarity in the USA in the 1970-ies, then "exported") are not a fetish at all, when they are the goal in itself. I believe, a minimum of linguistic .... "Hygiene" :-) ... could be welcomed in communication !
